There's a natural tendency to extrapolate the time it would take to play alone by the number of people in your company when estimating how long your round will take. Since each player has their own unique style, this is incorrect.

If you want to finish rounds quickly as a group, it helps to study the shots of the other competitors. If you watch the other player's stroke from a distance and choose a club accordingly, you'll be ready to strike the ball by the time it lands.

On the greens, you can watch your playing companions' shots and use that information to plan your own. Reduced time spent on the course means fewer putts.
